The Chironis Forge- an Adeptus Mechanicus blog (Part 1)

Hello all! It's been a very long time since I last posted here on the blog, so I thought it time to rectify that situation.

I certainly haven't been idle in terms of hobby in that time. My most significant hobby progress has been building and painting a huge Adeptus Mechanicus army.

My AdMech force starts from humble beginnings. Way back in 2009, I'd been reading the Mechanicum and Titanicus novels and fallen in love with the sinister background of the Adeptus Mechanicus (or, Mechanicum during the Horus Heresy). I decided I wanted to build an AdMech army, though they didn't yet have their own codex at the time. I converted some Skitarii to proxy as Imperial Guard, including a large walking command-centre. Over time these got sold off to make room for other project, but I did keep the big walking tank, which you'll see on the blog at some point...

A few years later GW finally released the Skitarii and Cult Mechanicus codex, and all my binaric dreams came true. The undertaking began....

This blog won't necessarily follow my progress chronologically. The first model I wanted to show is my Skitarii Alpha.
This guy was inspried by the descriptions of Skitarii in the Titanicus book, as savage warriors who have been bionically and genetically altered to serve as lethal warriors of the Machine God.

The base of the conversion is the Barbarian from the Age of Sigmar: Silver Tower game. I added all kinds of AdMech bits and bobs to him, including the taser goad and pistol. In the long run, I'd love to do a full unit of barbaric Skitarii to run along side this guy, but I'm waiting for GW to inevitably release some AOS "Darkoath" troops which will no doubt fit the bill....
