Call to Glory Campaign #6!

We finish up month number three!

As always, the rules for the campaign can be found in this Google Drive folder. In addition, you can listen to the rules explained in episode 120 and 121 of Point Hammered. The battles and results below are covered in episode 124.

Second Half of Month Three - Fought April 23rd, 2015

We had the complete cast of characters out for this fight. The first excursion would prove most interesting as both Legend and Butcher used their Boons of Slaanesh for the first time!

These cards are used when each player is selecting their target. They allow the player to see what everyone else picked and then choose their destination knowing full well where everyone is headed. Each god has a different special ability in addition. For Slaanesh, if you join a game with more than two players you can force one of them to ally with you!

First Excursion

Target – The Mountain Holds (Gold)
Victor – The Butcher
Losers – The Legend, The Bear

The Butcher grumbles: With both myself and Legend using Boons of Slaanesh on each other and double spooning Bear I managed to eke out a win by camping on the center ground the whole game.

(The Tallyman enumerates: Butcher and Legend chose to ally with each other, thus leaving The Bear as their only enemy. Such treachery pleases the Gods!)

Losers – The Journeyman, The Tallyman

The Raj whispers: This was a close fought thing between the Journeyman and myself. We both blitzkrieged through the Tallyman’s forces and claimed an equal number of objectives. A timely shot by my Ungor half-horn master marksmen (named Newman) brought down a wounded Skullreaper at the end of the game, giving the Raj another victory.

Second Excursion

Target – The Crumbling South (Slaves)
Victor – The Butcher
Losers – The Bear, The Journeyman, The Tallyman

The Bear growls: A four way between Tallyman, Butcher, Journeyman and I. I did all right by committing all of my forces against one opponent, Tallyman, rather than splitting and fighting on two fronts which has gotten me nowhere in these multiplayer games. I also benefitted from a miscalculation on Journeyman's part when he chose close combat against Butcher instead of me. Butcher just edged me out for the win in the end but hey, at least not everyone targeted me the entire game.

(The Tallyman quantifies: The Butcher used a second Boon of Slaanesh to raid the Forges of Hashut (Magic Items), then ambushed this location to bring about this epic battle)

The Legend conveys: I have to admit, this a trial of who could roll the shittiest. Raj pulled out a win after a key Blight king on Blight king battle, which I should have lost early on since his was a champ wielding a great weapon and mine was swinging two weapons. I think it went on for three full turns, each doing nothing until Raj's dice got their mojo back. But the general of both our armies fell in the combat so was anyone really the winner? Yeah, it was Raj.

End of Month Three Snapshot

Note: All Buildings in progress were completed at the end of this session. Due to time, all trading and Offerings were put on hold until the beginning of next session. The Gods grow restless at the lack of timely offerings!

To win the campaign, a player’s general must have the marks of all four chaos gods. To get the permanent mark of each god, they must complete that god's offering track. Stronghold buildings will help players win games and get the specific cards they need to make their offerings, but will not give overall victory in their own right.

The Bear

The latest reinforcements are Newman the half-horn and another troll-hound to join Moxie. Going forward, I will be trying to double down on the painting of the warband. I’ve converted up about 15 models but have only painted Raj so far!

My hobby time has been near nil recently, so I really need to ramp it up in the coming weeks so I can finish strong. Keep an eye out on this blog for some out-of-campaign updates, coming soon!

We are looking forward to increased unit sizes in Month Four at 400 points. Only big guys will be left as single models, with most units having to form up in units of two to four. In addition, Raj will be out on vacation for the first half of the month. Who will fill the power vacuum left by Silvertongue? Tune in 2 weeks from now!
