Bull Ogre Slaughtermaster: WIP Post #5

Week 5 of work on the big guy is at an end. He's really close now!
The main model is done. The only thing left is the magical effect in his right hand, and the staff in his left hand.

You can see that he got to be a rather hirsute fella. During that transformation I got extremely sick of sculpting fur!
His right hand is from the plastic minotaur kit. I used a pinvise to drill out the weapon haft, then used the jeweler's saw to cut it up, and any tiny detailed cuts were done with a modeling knife. The goal was to reposition the hand as if he were casting some sinister magic! The bits of paper clip drilled into his palm are there as an armature to be sculpted around later.
I added a few random bitz to his belt., in order to make him a bit more interesting to look at.
I'm really happy with the overall result thus far. He looks super kewl, and very unique!

For his staff, I want a partially carved wooden staff. Here's what I've done so far.
I'm not sure about it yet, but I'm going to keep working on it. The goal is a carved beasty-looking head, with big horns coming down the sides, and gems for eyes. I've never attempted something like this before. I have about 45 minutes into it already. When it's all done, I will decide whether to hack it off and start over, or keep it.

Hopefully another week will see this guy ready for paint!
