Fey Hunter

As I mentioned in my last post, I added two additional pegasus riders to my original to form a trio of warhawks. This posed an interesting problem, as I still wanted to use an actual eagle rider in my list. This is what I came up with:

This is a Raging Heroes model. I thought she was a bit pricey with the conversion rate but overall its a decent model. There are three options for each arm. The others were a harp, another spear, and two swords. I have to say I this model is a bit tricky to put together and I found myself referring to the assembly guide to get the wings right.

I almost bought the big ass legendary one but the thing's like six inches tall! I already had my centerpiece model in the form of the Treewench anyways. It's a good thing, too, because when I actually put this chick together and got her primed, I had no idea how I was going to paint her! I was sort of locked into a color scheme at this point, though, so I just had to decide what colors I wanted to use where.

The wings were the trickiest part and I'm not thrilled with them, but since the name of the game with this army has always been speed, I think they're fine given the quality of the rest of the models.

Gamewise, this is a wood elf noble on great eagle with great weapon, light amor, shield, dragonhelm, and amaranthine brooch.

This setup is mostly protected from war machines with a 3+ ward save versus non-magical attacks and 2+ ward versus flaming attacks. The only war machines that can get through this set up are skaven war machines and dwarf war machines with any rune but flaming (not too many of those thankfully). The majority of magic missiles are flaming, but against the few that aren't the 3+ armor save can usually see her through.

She's a bit pricey at 178 points but she was a key factor in several of my victories at the Core Competency tournament where the woodies took overall. In game four, she was able to divert a skaven block from hitting my juicy glade guard center (and survive!) while in game 5, she killed my opponent's BSB, level 4, 20 man glade guard block and a unit of wild riders to boot! (MVP in that one for sure!)

Wow, what an awesome model with a matching price tag. I think you've inspired me to buy one for my Wood Elf army.
